It is currently fashionable to tell any lie you please, to indulge in your most absurd fantasies, to boldly proclaim whatever your self-deluded reality might be, and the rest of society is supposed to enable your mental instability instead of directing you to the counseling you so obviously need. To this end, pathological liars and career criminals Steven Hatfield and Bret Gordon have spun many fanciful tales regarding one of their alleged Japanese martial arts masters, the one they refer to by the very non-Japanese name of Hasaka Yutashi. Some of us, however, still insist on being told the truth. We stubbornly refuse to accept your substitution of reality with one of your own creation. We demand evidence, not your ludicrous lies. On his blog, con man Bret Gordon claims: https://www.americanyoshinkan.com/history.html Hasaka Yutashi grew up in the martial arts, first learning Jujutsu from his father. Over time, he began development of what would later become American Yoshinkan Aiki Jujutsu (named in 1999), although he still remained an active student of the arts. He would go on to study Daito Ryu with Horikawa Kodo during the 1960s and '70s, as well as Yoshinkan Aikido briefly with Shioda Gozo. Shioda was a fellow student of Horikawa around 1977-78 after Horikawa visited his Tokyo dojo, and so Hasaka sensei had the opportunity to share information with him. However, although brief, Shioda would influence Hasaka sensei so greatly that his art became the inspiration for our naming. In the 1980s, after visiting previously numerous times, Hasaka sensei moved permanently to the United States and settled in California. There, he met a young Steven Hatfield and later his step-father, William Sirbaugh. Sirbaugh was an accomplished martial artist with a background in Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do and Hankido (for more information, click here), and Hasaka sensei quickly began exchanging information and training with him. As he got older, Steven Hatfield also began studying with them full-time. Even when Hatfield sensei moved to Ohio in 1999, he would continue traveling to California and bringing Hasaka sensei to Ohio to continue his training. When Hasaka sensei would return to visit Japan, Hatfield sensei would often accompany him. Upon Hasaka sensei's death, the art officially passed to Steven Hatfield having been designated as the successor a year prior. However, this was at a time when Hatfield sensei was primarily focused on his karate training under various teachers, and so he placed American Yoshinkan on the back burner until he met a student specifically seeking that type of training. Throughout this time, Hatfield sensei also cross-trained in Aikido under various teachers as well as Hankido (a Korean offshoot of Aikido) under his step-father, which would influence his personal expression of the art as he passed it on. In late 2011, Hatfield sensei met Bret Gordon through some mutual friends and the two began training in early 2012. Also having some prior experience in Aikido, Gordon sensei was actively interested in Japanese Jujutsu. Because of his other endeavors, Hatfield sensei set out to groom Gordon sensei to eventually take over the system. On January 12, 2020, Hatfield sensei officially stepped down as the headmaster of American Yoshinkan and appointed Bret Gordon as his inheritor. With this appointment, the hombu dojo was moved to Central Florida where it is currently located. http://www.join-usama.com/blog/what-is-a-martial-arts-fraud American Yoshinkan was founded by Hasaka Yutashi, who passed it down to Hatfield sensei in 2007. . . . Hatfield sensei gave me copies of his credentials from Hasaka sensei to verify the art was in fact his to pass down. . . . I have also amassed a collection of photographs of Hasaka sensei (some of which hang in my school), including pictures with Hatfield sensei to verify their relationship as well as him training in Japan in Daito Ryu Kodokai. I have even verified, independently of Hatfield sensei, what Hasaka sensei's standing was in Daito Ryu (under his birth name) prior to coming to the United States and teaching here. . . . there is no doubt in my mind regarding the legitimacy of Hasaka sensei's credentials prior to founding American Yoshinkan, or Hatfield sensei's position as his inheritor. . . . the question arises as to why I won't simply supply his birth name for others to verify as well, considering the only thing you will find when you search for "Hasaka Yutashi" is information provided by myself and Hatfield sensei. I do provide such information to my students . . . and I maintain that I will share this information with anyone who visits my school respectfully and wants to know the truth. There is nothing to hide. . . . Hasaka sensei was adamant about maintaining his privacy for reasons I am not at liberty to discuss, as the keeper of his legacy I must respect his wishes and feel that sharing information in-person while limiting what is publicly accessible is a fair compromise. http://www.join-usama.com/blog/manipulating-the-truth . . . I changed my belt three times throughout the duration of a single class to show off my colorful pieces of cloth, and that when questioned about Hasaka Yutashi (the founder of American Yoshinkan Aiki Jujutsu) I made excuses that I couldn't show the documents I claimed to have because I "don't keep them at the school." Of course, for anyone who has actually been in my school, they would clearly see the pictures of Hasaka sensei on the wall and the scrolls displayed in a shadow box, easily accessible for review . . . If they're publicly available - let's see them. end of ludicrous lies - This idiot (Gordon) has even gone so far as to claim that Yutashi actually has living relatives that he (Gordon) must protect by maintaining secrecy. In almost the same breath, he will then pivot and launch an attack against people who expose frauds of his ilk for writing anonymously in order to protect themselves and the people they love from mentally unstable, potentially dangerous wannabe martial arts “masters”. Makes sense. To clear up all the misinformation and disinformation spread around by compulsive liars Steven Hatfield and Bret Gordon, the absolute, unvarnished truth regarding Hasaka Yutashi is being presented here for the first time anywhere for the entire world to see. And so, without further adieu, Under the Gi presents to you: The Completely Unauthorized and Unasked-for, Honest to Gosh, Totally True, You Damned Well Better Believe It Or I'll be Very, Very Cross Biography of Hasaka Yutashi by HK Hayward (who is not Gerald J. Greysmith) #WeAreGerald #WeAreThe12 The story you are about to read is 100% true. It is equally as true as the stories that career criminals Bret Gordon and Steven Hatfield have told. That means it's really, really true. No, really. Just ask them. They will verify themselves that they have told the truth. Never mind the fact that no one else can verify their claims, never mind that they are the sole source for the information they provide, they say they are telling the truth about Hasaka Yutashi, so they are telling the truth. Nyah nyah. None of the names have been changed to protect the innocent, because no one involved in this story is innocent. Hasaka Yutashi changed his name a bunch of times, but that doesn't mean he is innocent. And Radford Davis, I mean, Ashida Kim changed his name a lot, too. But that's okay, because he is not innocent, either. Okay, then. Glad that's cleared up. Hasaka Yutashi, whose birth name was Silflay Hraka, was born sometime during the “Rice Riots”, a series of sometimes violent uprisings against the Japanese government over the skyrocketing price of rice, culminating in the resignation of Prime Minister Terauchi and his cabinet in September. His mother, name unknown, was a woman of low reputation, his father, name unknown, a petty street thug and scam artist. His mother died of an STD when he was 3-years-old. His father took him in and used him as a sympathy ploy in many quick-cash schemes. NOTE: These STDs are different from the STDs that Steven Hatfield and Bret Gordon have given each other. 1924-1934: (ages 6-16) Hasaka Yutashi, whose name had been changed to Denbo Atama, was taught what he was told was jujutsu, but was actually just dirty street-fighting, by his father. The aim was to make him a hatchet-man for his ambitious father, who was eager to climb the crimeworld ladder. 1934: (age 16) Hasaka Yutashi's, whose name had been changed to Onara Kokyu, father died in the Hakodate train station fire. Kokyu was left homeless and destitute due to his father's inability to manage money, spending it on alcohol and women of low character as quickly as he could steal it. He was taken in by other gangsters, who changed his name to Ushi Shita, and sent him to join the military to acquire the skills to become a more efficient enforcer. In reality, they just didn't want to care for him. And who could blame them? 1937-1945: Second Sino-Japanese War 1941-1945: World War II During his time in the military, he committed many atrocities, some of them even against the enemy. Wartime taught Hasaka Yutashi many things, among them that he truly enjoyed small-time racketeering, intimidation and knee-breaking to help sustain his criminal livelihood, activities which he continued to indulge in the military, but also that he was truly a coward at heart. He was desperately terrified, to the point of frequently wetting his bed, when it came to the possibility of being killed during battle. It was during his military career, the records of which were destroyed by bombings and fires, that Hasaka Yutashi, whose name changed many times during this period, became enamored not only of the socialist ideals of Mussolini and Hitler, but of the glamorized and romanticized images of bushido and the samurai promulgated by government propagandists, up to and including the practice of shudo, which he was very enthusiastic to embrace and implement. Sometimes alarmingly so. 1938: (age 20) It was during the Olympic games at Berlin, Germany that Hasaka Yutashi, now named Hitode Rikka, became aware of the United States and determined to someday visit this land of foreign devils where he could be free to commit even more atrocities. 1945: (age 27) Hasaka Yutashi, whose name had been changed to Fajji Pakka, was stationed on the island of Iwo Jima prior to the American invasion in February, Determining that he was on the losing side, he had decided to desert his post and flee. To this end, he had secretly built a raft and stocked it with stolen supplies. His plan was to sail to the western shores of Kyushu, then make his way back home to Tokyo. An unforeseen storm blew him off course, and he drifted for days on the water until ultimately landing on the shores of northern Korea, near a small fishing village called Sinanju. Taking on the Korean name Gidae Huelgson, he decided to conceal himself there until the war was over. While recovering from his ordeal there, he accidentally observed what he determined to be a village elder training in some form of martial art. He tried to imitate the movements he had seen, but could only produce a pale shadow of the sun source. 1951-1953 (age 33-35): Sinanju, a name which literally translates as “Comfortable New Village”, in South Pyongan Province, North Korea was 100% destroyed during the Korean War. Yutashi (Huelgson) barely escaped with his life. After the destruction of his quiet life as a fisherman, he decided to return to his homeland, making his way in a stolen fishing boat to the shores of Kyushu, and eventually making his way back to Tokyo. During his travels across Kyushu, sporting the new name of Shiroi Nomikomu, he encountered more secretive martial artists, including an art practiced by an obscure family named Saija (which is not a real Japanese name, either. Coincidence?) that lived in the area of Kagoshima. This rekindled his interest in martial arts, and he decided to throw himself into these studies when he returned to his hometown. 1960s – 1970s: (ages 42-52) Now going by the name Sukamu Buketsu, through bribery and forgery of some letters and documents, a skill he learned from his father and perfected in the military, he conned his way into studying Daito Ryu under Horikawa Kodo. 1975 (age 57) : Sukamu Buketsu, during one of his first trips to America using forged papers under yet other names, attended a secretive, underground no-holds-barred fighting tournament called Kumite in the Bahamas, but did not compete, as his close friend Senzo Tanaka's student Frank Dux was on the roster, and he did not wish to harm, or possibly kill, his friend's star pupil. 1977-1978: (ages 59-60) By means of yet more bribery and forgery, and using legitimate connections established even while committing fraud, the now-named Kuso Nagetto, studied Yoshinkan Aikido with Shioda Gozo in Tokyo. He also re-visited and trained with Insei Saija, who had adopted and appointed his American pupil, Bryce Dallas, as heir to his art of Konigun karate. 1980s: Now in his 60s, he changed his name and traveled to America numerous times, eventually settling permanently in California. During some of the many times he visited America, he was caught committing petty crimes because he really wasn't all that competent at his preferred profession, even with his extensive experience. One of these times, after changing his name to (finally) Hasaka Yutashi, he met an individual named Willaim Sirbaugh, and eventually through him, met his step-son Steven Hatfield. Quickly realizing Sirbaugh as the petty low-life that he was, Yutashi devised a different strategy to insinuate himself into this sucker's life, as well as his son's. He conned Sirbaugh into believing that he was a martial arts master, which Sirbaugh, being a small-time career criminal with low self-esteem and possessing a weak mind, readily believed. He suckered Sirbaugh, and later Steven Hatfield, into contributing to support his lifestyle, along with many others he grifted from (using a different name for each) during his life in this land of wealthy foreign devils that he despised so much. 1999: (age 78) Hasaka Yutashi, pulling the name out of his ass, officially named his bullshit art American Yoshinkan Aiki Jujutsu. Steven Hatfield moved to Ohio but, being thoroughly indoctrinated into Yutashi's lies, traveled back to California frequently, and even brought Yutashi to Ohio on many occasions. Hatfield even traveled to Japan with him several times, which his passport records will show. Just ask him. 2007: (age 89) Realizing his free ride through life was coming to an end, Hasaka Yutashi, laughing and coughing into his sleeve, designated Steven Hatfield as the successor of his bullshit martial art, using a name no real Japanese would use because, why not? No stupid hamburger-smelling gaijin is going to know that no real Japanese would dirty his art with a name like American Yoshinkan Aiki Jujutsu. 2008: (age 90) Autoerotic asphyxia is truly an embarrassing way to die. 2011: Steven Hatfield met Bret Gordon, and immediately knew this naive, immature boy was the easily-manipulated little dupe he was looking for. 2012: Steven Hatfield began training Bret Gordon in the bullshit martial art of American Yoshinkan Aiki Jujutsu. 2020: On January 12, Steven Hatfield named Bret Gordon as the successor of the bullshit partial art of American Yoshinkan Aiki Jujutsu. Bret Gordon claims to possess paperwork, which he cannot read, as well as photographs of someone he claims is Hasaka Yutashi. He also claims to have been given Yutashi's personal red belt. He also claims that he protects Hasaka Yutashi's still living relatives from the dread internet trolls who want him to prove his claims.
Tell you what Brety-boy, if Hasaka Yutashi's “living relatives” find this offensive and defamatory, just have them sue me. After all, that's working out so well for you against Dr. Dale Dugas, isn't it?
